“Wave Line Magnet”: the wave energy converter

Sea Wave Energy Limited (SWEL) is a R&D company that has been developing a wave energy converter device since 2006. Their evolved product is now called Wave Line Magnet (WLM). The characterization of wave power routes back to Archimedes' principle of buoyancy and displacement theory, which SWEL expanded to what they call “Neutral Displacement Theory” (NDT). The company says that one single WLM could generate over 100MW by applying the NDT, with expanded capacity as wavelengths increase, producing 10 times more power that simular methods. Having concluded studies and tests at Ecole Centrale de Nantes (ECN) Test Facility, with Marine Energy Alliance (MEA) and industry leaders, SWEL is now seeking strategic alliances and partnerships for final tests on a pilot model towards commercialisation of this renewable energy technology.
