Over 4,000 projects in the global carbon-credit market are currently assessed by MSCI Carbon Markets.
A few days ago MSCI issued a research report describing their approach to rate the integrity of all these projects. With interesting outcomes.
“Overall, fewer than 10% of the projects analyzed are rated in the AAA-A band. There are, however, some early positive signs of a trend to increasing integrity” indicates their press release, adding that their work involves in-depth evaluations of individual projects using a rules-based, project-type-specific assessment framework.
Identifying higher-integrity projects in a global context has always been a challenge.
This initiative from MSCI is one of several underway to improve integrity and bring transparency on the risks of projects, enhancing credibility in the global carbon credit markets, specially the voluntary.
Focusing on property documentation related to projects, Carbon Credit Markets will also soon launch a partnership. It will be like a marketplace for those with a carbon credit mandate. Starting with the Brazilian territory, you will be able to check - and regularly monitor - property deeds, company by-laws, legal and governamental issues, among many other useful information. Other partnerships and services are being developed in other relevant territories of the voluntary carbon markets, both NBS and technological solutions. Register on our portal so you don't miss the announcement day.

And for those already MSCI clients there will be a webinar coming October 2 2024 “It’s time to raise the bar with a new generation of Carbon Project Ratings”.
Last but not least, tomorrow we will not post about carbon credits, but about health issues and diseases in times of extreme heat, droughts, floods and wildfires. Come back if interested in this type of action and care.
